Arthaland launches ‘green’ pioneering township project

June 01, 2019

ARTHALAND Corp. recently broke the ground for its first township development called Sevina Park, an 8.1-hectare mixed-use property located in Biñan, Laguna, that boasts of being the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified neighborhood in the country.

“It is consistent with the commitment of Arthaland that all of its developments will be green and sustainable,” said Jaime C. Gonzales, vice chairman, president and CEO of Arthaland. “It is another important milestone in the development of the projects of Arthaland, and for me, it’s one of the more exciting projects that we have, which will take a few years to complete and develop.”

Sevina Park is envisioned to become a sustainable, close-knit neighborhood that will be conveniently located jus a few minutes from everything the residents and locators would need. The whole project will have about 60-percent green and open spaces.

This township development will have different types of residential components. Already built is a 348-bed dormitory. The company has just started constructing the 108 villas or townhouse clusters, composed of two to four bedrooms, for completion and turnover by the second quarter of 2021. This will followed by low-rise residential condominiums.

Designed as a modern-day community, its commercial aspect will consist of neighborhood retail and landmark green offices. In partnership with World Wild Fund for Nature, Arthaland planted endemic and endangered trees around the property to provide lush and an airy environment.

All these components make it eco-friendly and promote walkability, water and energy conservation features not seen in other similar projects.

“By integrating all the principles of LEED into a community, we’ll be able to further push the envelop in terms of sustainability because not only are we focusing on making one building LEED; we’re making an entire community LEED,” Arthaland EVP and Treasurer Leonardo Po told reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony.

“That means that the units will have optimized energy consumption and optimized use of water. We will minimize wastes and maximize the resources we have available to us,” he said.

While construction on site is now in full swing, preselling of the designer villas just started this month. The introductory price per square meter is around P110,000.

“Because the major infrastructure that’s upcoming—the Calax highway [or the Cavite-Laguna Expressway—will soon open by the end of the year, all of you know what happens the moment a major highway infrastructure happens and in correlation to real-estate prices,” said Christopher G. Narciso, EVP for business and development at Arthaland. “So our introductory price is really good for now.”  Apart from families in Laguna, Cavite and Southern Metro Manila areas, Sevina Park also targets the top executives of various companies from the industrial zones nearby who want [to] live and work within walking distance of each other.

“This is a turnkey option of a very high-end development designed by one of the top architects in the country today. So these are designer homes available to you turnkey at the highest quality,” Po said. “We’re also looking for tenants and locators that have a very high focus on sustainability.”

Publicly listed Arthaland is mainly engaged in property development of residential, commercial, leisure and industrial projects. The company has an existing land bank in Laguna, Tagaytay and Batangas of close to 50 hectares.

“We continue to be out there looking for properties to acquire,” Gonzales said of their initiative to support their constant expansion to other growth areas in key cities nationwide.
